The David Jones building at 310 Bourke St in Melbourne is a heritage-listed department store located in the heart of the city’s CBD. The building is an example of Edwardian architecture, which maintains its historic charm with a distinctive façade and ornate detailing.
Premier Waterproofing were engaged by David Jones to undertake a detailed forensic investigation of the heritage building at 310 Bourke St. This was primarily in response to a major water leak over the main entrance to the store, which was impacting customer foot traffic.
The Premier team uncovered and repaired the David Jones building’s collapsed awning and rebuilt the roofing structure, while dealing with issues of rust, mould, rising damp and condensation across the sandstone façade.
Internally, works were completed on the commercial kitchen floors of the David Jones Food Hall, which were redone with epoxy coating systems, flooring and grouting to remove any imperfections.
These works were all completed in compliance with the building’s heritage status requirements.
