With its iconic stone façade, 14 Martin Place combines historic Victorian Gothic Revival architecture with contemporary commercial facilities in the heart of Sydney’s CBD. Its eight-level heritage façade, built in 1893, is occupied by various office suites and commercial tenants, including the World Bank Group.
Premier Waterproofing were engaged by the owners of 14 Martin Place to undertake a detailed forensic investigation of the building. A number of water leaks had been detected in top-floor tenancies, including the foyer of The World Bank Group.
Water leaks from the ceiling were traced back to the rooftop of the building, where previous waterproofing works had been insufficient. The Premier team uncovered further water leaks into the Building Maintenance Unit rooftop storage area, which was cleaned and cleared, with all defects treated.
Heritage sky lights (as seen on the footpath of Martin Place) had also sustained significant water damage over the years. These were carefully removed by the Premier team and replaced with new inserts and a waterproof seal.
